GarageBand is a cool app available on the iPad to make audio (mp3) files, and we used it to create our radio show about Homo Habilis.
Garageband is simple to use. To begin, you open the app by tapping the icon on your homescreen. Once it opens you will be able to create a new “song,” which is what the projects are called on GarageBand. You can also record your voice, you can also play with instruments and you can also export whatever you have to your Email and sent it to anyone like your teacher or friend.
Out of all of our early human ancestors, during this unit we learned about Australopithecus Afarensis, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, and Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Each hominid was more advanced than the ones which came before it. To begin with, Australopithecus Afarensis was the first hominid to be able to walk on two feet , which allowed them to use two hands to hunt etc...
After that, Homo Habilis came along. Homo Habilis was more advanced than Australopithecus Afarensis, and was able to use tools, which allowed them to hunt in an easy way.
Next came Homo Erectus. In addition to what Homo Habilis could do, Homo Erectus was able to use Fire to cook food, which allowed them to not get food poisoned.
After Homo Erectus came Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis. They were able to control fire and had communities, which allowed them to resolve conflicts in a less violent way.
Finally, along came Homo Sapiens Sapiens, or “Early Modern Man.” These advanced hominids were able to talk and communicate easily and also built better more efficient homes , which allowed them to live a more luxurious life.
